Channing Tatum and his wife, Jenna Dewan, presented themselves as the one of the most adorable, together couples in Hollywood.

But on Monday, they shocked fans and the entertainment community by announcing that they were separating after eight years of marriage.

That news, according to E! News, left many wondering: If these two can’t make it work in Hollywood, who can?

The couple, who met on the set of “Step Up” back in 2006, announced their separation with a joint statement posted to Instagram. In their statement, the actors and dancers, both 37, insisted that there were “no secrets” or “salacious events” behind the decision.

They said they are “two best-friends realizing it’s time to take some space and help each other live the most joyous, fulfilled lives as possible.”

Tatum and Dewan are parents of daughter Everly, who will turn 5 in May, according to People, which first reported the separation. “We have lovingly chosen to separate as a couple,” the statement began.

“We fell deeply in love so many years ago and have had a magical journey together. Absolutely nothing has changed about how much we love one another, but love is a beautiful adventure that is taking us on different paths for now.”

The couple added that they are still a family and “will always be loving dedicated parents to Everly.” The couple, who married in 2009, most recently attended the Kids’ Choice Awards together in late March where the “Magic Mike” actor took to the stage to promote his new animated movie “Smallfoot.”

Rumors that their marriage wasn’t as happy as people seemed to believe began when Dewan attended the annual Vanity Fair Oscars after-party solo. But she insisted to “Entertainment Tonight” that Tatum was at home on “daddy duty.”

“When people say you guys have such a perfect life, I want to scream and tell them no one’s perfect,” she said.
