Posted the top time in the Central Coast Section this season in the 200, covering the distance in personal-record 21.91 seconds at the CCS Top 8 Invitational at Los Gatos on Saturday. Also finished second in the 100 in 10.98, which matches the fourth-best mark in the section this season. His previous best time were 11.03 in the 100 and 21.97 in the 200.
Jazlynn Shearer, Silver Creek

Class: Junior
Won the long jump at the Central Coast Section Top 8 Invitational at Los Gatos on Saturday with a leap of 20 feet, 1 inch, the top mark in the state this season and a personal record. Also won the 100 hurdles in 14.14 seconds, took third in the triple jump in 39-5 1⁄4 and helped Silver Creek place third in the 4×100 relay in 48.61. Shearer ranks sixth in the state in the 100 hurdles (14.09, Stanford Invitational) and ninth in the state in the triple jump (40-6, Stanford).
East Bay
Nick Quesada, Freedom

Went 2 for 3 and drove in a run in Freedom’s 3-2 victory over Heritage and then went 3 for 4, scored twice and knocked in four runs in a 14-5 victory over Antioch as the Falcons ran their record to 11-5 overall and 2-0 in the Bay Valley Athletic League. Quesada began this week batting .463 (19 for 41) with 15 RBIs for a team that had won six of its previous seven games. Christiana Gumataotao, Mt. Eden

Class: Freshman
Went a combined 4 for 8 with a double, two-run home run and five RBIs as Mt. Eden defeated Encinal 10-1 and Hayward 9-0 in West Alameda County Conference Shoreline Division play. At the start of play this week, she led the team in hits (18), RBIs (15), home runs (three) and doubles (four) and was batting .439 as Mt. Eden stood in second place behind Piedmont in the standings.
