It’s a hidden treasure, that gem in the jewelry box often unintentionally overlooked not for its lack of sparkle and appeal, but rather because of its subdued, and discreet allure.

Tucked in the charming and richly historic South Valley city of San Martin, CordeValle Vineyard Estates is a gem for those seeking an exclusive South Bay homesite location. Sitting in the picturesque Lion’s Valley at the foot of the Santa Cruz mountains, this enclave of luxurious homes are wrapped in 85 acres of Clos LaChance winery vineyards that wind among the homes built to take advantage of the views. The boutique winery maintains and harvests the fruit while homeowners can just sit back and enjoy the view.

Only about a 30-minute drive to the San Jose airport and downtown Silicon Valley, CordeValle Vineyard Estates is miles away from the fast, urban pace.

Often referred to as “wine country living”, CordeValle offers convenient access to a multitude of wineries in this rich grape growing region. Hop on bikes and pedal along a wine trail tour or witness the splendor of nature and its nature preserve right outside your door with wandering quail, turkeys, ducks, jack rabbits and more.

CordeValle was built from 2000 to 2009 and features about 1,700 acres of open space with 41 homesites. The properties range from 2 and 4 acres and all are within close proximity to the world class CordeValle Golf and Country Club and golf course designed by the renowned Robert Trent Jones Jr., a private club with about 350 members, and the luxurious Rosewood Resort. The clubhouse features art collected from all over the world and first class concierge service.

The estate at 1130 Vintage Court is no exception. One of six homes on the private and gated court, it was built in 2002 and is surrounded by 3.25 acres of Syrah grape vines providing privacy and breathtaking natural views.

The classic American Heritage design by South Coast Architects features a rock and cedar shingle façade and a more than 5,000-square-foot single-level interior that seamlessly connects with the enticing outdoor patios and gardens. Beautiful appointments with fine finishes and a meticulous attention to detail raise the level of sophistication while retaining a comfortable, relaxed and inviting ambience that makes anyone who enters, feel immediately at home. The exquisite interiors were designed by Marie-Jeanne Dyer.

The long paver driveway leads to the walkway meandering through the lush front gardens to the slate tile porch. A slate tile entry with soaring ceiling and arched transom creates a grand first impression of the light-filled, open floor plan where oversized windows frame garden views at every angle. Caribbean walnut hardwood floors, and crown molding flow throughout the home and an artist applied the custom paint to each wall in the effort to reflect the most light regardless of their location in the home.

The formal living room features a vaulted ceiling that soars 20 feet and the room is anchored by a fireplace with marble surround, raised hearth and wood trim mantel. French doors open onto the expansive travertine patio with heaters and fire pit, and backyard vineyard views.

Entertain on a grand scale in the formal dining room that features a barrel ceiling. Sliding glass doors open onto the front porch and a Sub-Zero, two-temperature wine refrigerator with the capacity for about 130 bottles is discreetly tucked behind a decorative wrought iron gate.

Designed, sculpted and installed onsite, the kitchen cabinetry reflects fine craftsmanship and esthetic to this already beautiful room featuring an exposed beam ceiling, granite counters, two islands each with double Franke stainless sinks, honed subway tile backsplash, walk-in pantry and built-in workstation with bookshelves. Well appointed with stainless appliances, the kitchen features a Fisher & Paykel dishwasher drawers, Bosch dishwasher, Wolf range with double ovens, sixburner, and griddle, Thermador convection/microwave oven, and Sub-Zero refrigerator/freezer.

The kitchen is open to a casual dining area and a spacious family room with a dramatic barrel ceiling, recessed lighting, fireplace with slate tile surround and multiple French doors connecting to the outside space.

Just off the living room is the private office/study lined with built-in, floor-to-ceiling custom cherry cabinetry, and coffered ceiling.

The bedroom wing’s hallway has a tray ceiling and recessed art niches. A private hallway leads to the master suite that features a tray ceiling, plush carpeting, sitting area, built-in entertainment center, Lennox gas fireplace, and French doors that open onto a private patio. The luxurious master bath features a walk-through closet, high ceiling, jetted tub surrounded by marble tile, dual sink cherry wood vanity with granite countertop, and marble shower with two frameless glass doors and glass brick.
