Brooks Taner, Serra

Sport: Swimming

Events: 200 freestyle, 100 butterfly, relays

Class: Junior

Set a meet record in the 100-yard butterfly in 48.84 seconds at the West Catholic Athletic League championsh­ips. Also finished first in the 200 freestyle in 1 minute, 40.89 seconds and swam the opening leg on Serra’s 200 medley relay team, which won in a meet-record 1:34.36. He swam the anchor leg on the 400 freestyle relay that placed second.

Page Wolfenden, Menlo

Sport: Lacrosse

Position: Midfielder/attacker

Class: Sophomore

Scored five goals as Menlo closed the regular season with a 14-6 victory over Menlo-Atherton. Earlier in the week, Wolfenden had two goals, three assists and four draw controls in a 13-4 win over St. Francis as the Knights locked up the West Bay Athletic League round-robin championsh­ip. The five goals against Menlo-Atherton stretched Wolfenden’s total to 50 on the season as Menlo improved its record to 13-5 overall and 11-1 in league.

EAST BAY

Justice Paraiso-Caceres, Berkeley

Sport: Baseball

Class: Senior

Position: Pitcher, outfielder

Scattered five hits over seven shutout innings with eight strikeouts, lowering his season ERA to 0.89, as Berkeley defeated Arroyo 6-0 to stay a half-game behind first-place Alameda in the West Alameda County Conference’s Foothill Division. Also had two hits and scored twice in the victory that improved Berkeley’s record to 18-4 overall and 12-2 in league. Hope Alley, Foothill

Position: Shortstop

Class: Junior

In wins over California and Dublin, she went 6 for 7 with a home run, a triple, two doubles and four RBIs. Also scored four runs and stole two bases. Alley raised her batting average to .467 on the season with five homers, six triples, 22 RBIs,12 stolen bases and 25 runs from the lead-off spot.

Brett Allen, Bellarmine College Prep volleyball: Had matchhigh 21 kills to propel to the Bells to a 23-25, 25-16, 25-16, 25-16 victory over Serra in the West Catholic Athletic League tournament final.

Madie Augusto, St. Ignatius softball: Threw one-hitter with 10 strikeouts to lead the Wildcats to a 2-0 win over West Catholic Athletic League regular-season champ Valley Christian. Ryan Belluomini, Valley Christian baseball: Hit a two-run homer to help lead the Warriors to a 4-2 victory on the road over Bellarmine in a regular-season league finale. Valley Christian finished 11-3 in WCAL play; Bellarmine went 8-6.

Joey Costantino, Willow Glen baseball: Finished with two hits and scored a run as Willow Glen defeated Leigh 3-1 to stay tied with Leland atop the Blossom Valley Athletic League’s Mount Hamilton Division with two to play.

Brett Hansen, Foothill baseball: Had another huge game — three hits, including a home run, three runs and five RBIs — to lead Foothill to a 10-5 victory over Dublin in East Bay Athletic League Valley Division play.

Levi Hanson, Clayton Valley Charter volleyball: Led the way with 30 kills as Clayton Valley rallied to defeat Alhambra 22-25, 25-19, 25-20, 25-17 in Diablo Athletic League Valley Division play.

Niko Lillios and James Roake, Palo Alto baseball: Each had three hits and scored twice as Palo Alto completed league play with a 10-4 victory over Mountain View. Palo Alto won the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League’s De Anza Division with a 13-1 record.

Daniel Marella, Archbishop Mitty swimming: Took first in the 200 individual medley in 1:53.28 and the 500 freestyle in 4:39.16 at the West Catholic Athletic League championsh­ips. Also swam on the 200 medley relay, which placed second. Josh Mollerus, Bellarmine College Prep baseball: Pitched six innings of one-run ball after inheriting a first-inning jam and added two hits as the Bells won the Boras Classic championsh­ip with a 5-4 victory over JSerra-San Juan Capistrano. Brett Pardo, California baseball: Finished with four hits and three RBIs to propel California to a 9-8 victory over Dougherty Valley in an EBAL Mountain Division game

Brooke Schaffer, St. Francis swimming: Finished first in the 50 freestyle in 23.43 seconds and 100 freestyle in 50.64 at the WCAL finals. Also swam on two winning relay teams — 200 and 400 freestyle — as St. Francis won the team title with 482 points.

Delia Scott, Heritage softball: Threw a four-hitter as Heritage handed Freedom its first loss on the season with a 7-0 victory, an outcome that improved Heritage’s record to 12-3 overall and 5-1 in the Bay Valley Athletic League.

Ben Townsend, Cupertino baseball: Threw one-hitter to lead Cupertino to a 2-0 victory over Los Gatos in Santa Clara Valley Athletic League De Anza Division play, extending his string of scoreless innings to 14. Los Gatos, the division runner-up, had not been shut out all season. Also went 2 for 3 with an RBI. Cathy Teng, Archbishop Mitty swimming: Won the 200 freestyle in 1:50.47 and the 500 freestyle in 4:58.55 at the West Catholic Athletic League championsh­ips. Also swam on two relay teams that placed second.

Max Ting, Menlo golf: Princeton-bound senior had an eagle and five birdies, shooting a 1-under 71 for co-medalist honors while leading the Knights to the West Bay Athletic League tournament title. Menlo also won the round-robin league crown. Alec Vercruysse, Menlo swimming: Won the 200 free at the West Bay Athletic League finals in a CCS-qualifying time of 1:45.07 and finished third in the 100 breast stroke in 59.95. Also anchored the 400 free relay for his third CCS-qualifying time of the day.

Nathan Yates, Bellarmine College Prep swimming: Won the 50 freestyle in 21.02 and 100 backstroke in 51.44 and was on two winning relays at the WCAL championsh­ips.

Movin’ On Up

Alex Blandino, Cincinnati Reds baseball: The former Stanford and St. Francis High standout was called up to the big leagues last month for the first time. He got off to a slow start but has eight hits in his last 26 at-bats (.307 average) through Monday to raise his season average to .241 with a .328 on-base percentage.

Steven Kwan, Oregon State baseball: The former Washington High-Fremont standout (Class of 2015) has started all 43 games for Oregon State this season through Sunday and is batting .347 with 29 RBIs. The Beavers began this week 35-71 overall and 14-6-1 in the Pac-12 Conference. They are ranked No. 3 nationally by D1baseball.com.

Andrew Ton, Navy tennis: The former Bellarmine College Prep standout was named most valuable player of the Patriot League tournament in Syracuse after he helped Navy win the championsh­ip with a win over Army. Ton won his singles and doubles matches from the No. 1 spot. In the singles final, he rallied to edge Michael Nguyen — a former Leland standout — 6-7 (2-7), 6-3, 6-2.
