Stanford’s Travis out of draft, but will transfer

- Staff and Wire Reports

Reid Travis, who led Stanford in scoring and rebounding last season, is leaving school, but not for the NBA.

Travis announced Wednesday that he had decided to skip the NBA draft and instead transfer to another school.

Kentucky and Villanova are the leading contenders for the 6-8 forward. ESPN, citing multiple sources, said Kentucky is the favorite.

Wherever he goes, Travis, as a graduate transfer, will be eligible to play immediately.

Travis informed Stanford coach Jerod Haase of his decision Tuesday night, according to ESPN. It is a significant blow for the Cardinal, which was in line to return five of its top seven players from a 19-win team.
