MOUNTAIN VIEW >> A Tracy man suspected of running over two people following an argument in a sports bar early Sunday morning was arrested this week, Mountain View police announced Friday.

The man, 31-year-old Gerardo Munoz, was arrested on suspicion of two counts of assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of driving under the influence causing bodily injury, police said.

After Munoz ran into the pair, a group of bystanders pulled him out of the car and beat him, police said. Munoz was arrested sometime earlier this week while still in the hospital. Details about his injuries were not released by police.

The incident occurred at about 2 a.m. in the parking lot of the Sports Page bar on Plymouth Street.

Police said Munoz got into an argument with a man and woman while still inside the bar. When the man and woman left the bar and walked into the parking lot, Munoz allegedly drove his car at them, resulting in the woman being pinned beneath the vehicle.

Munoz attempted to drive away but was pulled out of the vehicle by bystanders, who attacked him, police said. Other bystanders flipped the vehicle over to pull the woman to safety.

By the time police arrived, most of the witnesses and bystanders were gone.

The man and woman hit by the vehicle were taken to a hospital with injuries, police said. They were both listed in stable condition earlier this week, according to a police spokeswoman.

Anyone who witnessed the aftermath of the collision is asked to call Det. Dan Garcia at 650-9036624.
