Gary Kent Moore

November 20, 1933 - May 29, 2018 Resident of Los Gatos

Gary Moore died peacefully in Santa Clara, California at the age of 84. Gary is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Patricia, brother Terry Moore, and children Pamela (Jimmy), Timothy (Sharon) and Rebecca (David) as well as ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Gary was born on his grandparents’ farm in Rover, MO. He was valedictorian of Thomasville High School and earned several college degrees including a doctorate in Education. At college in Cape Girardeau he met the love of his life, Pat. They married in 1959 and moved to California where Gary began a long and distinguished career at Santa Clara Unified School District and Santa Clara University.

Throughout his life Gary drew strength from his Christian faith and was an active leader in his church. Upon his retirement, he continued to offer leadership to the Santa Clara School District Retirees and the local chapter of the Civil War Roundtable.

Gary will be remembered by many for his intellect, mentorship, and humor. But his legacy will be both family and friends and the considerable impact he had on their lives.

Services are scheduled for 2:00 pm on Sunday, June 3 at Rosewood Community Church, 1375 W. Hedding, San Jose, with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Operation Share Food Pantry or Operation Christmas Child, c/o Rosewood Community Church.
