Annie Sueda

1928 ~ 2018 Resident of Los Gatos, California

-

On May 8, 2018, Annie Kanazawa Sueda quietly passed away to rejoin her late husband Robert in heaven.

Annie was born in Calexico, California, the youngest of seven children. In March 1941, she relocated to Japan, spending the war years in Hiroshima, where she was among a small group of her classmates to survive the atomic bomb. After the war, she attended Aoyama Gakuin University in Tokyo, Japan. In 1952, she moved to Los Angeles. Following her marriage to Robert Sueda in 1956, she moved to Campbell.

For over fifty years, Annie taught Sunday School at Los Angeles Holiness, San Lorenzo, Campbell and Santa Clara Valley Japanese Christian Churches. She was an active parent volunteer at Hillbrook School in Los Gatos, Hazelwood Elementary and Campbell Junior High. In the late 70s and early 80s, Mrs. Sueda was a well-loved teacher’s aide at Monroe Elementary School, a position that she left in 1986 to care for her grandsons.

After 54 years of marriage, Robert passed in 2010 and Annie moved to Los Gatos where she lived with her daughter until her death. She is survived by her sister, Rukie Harris (Oceanside, CA); her daughters Roberta (Kevin) Hayashi (Los Gatos) and Retha Sueda (Ellicott City, MD); and grandsons Daniel (Lora) Hayashi (Tokyo, Japan) and Kenny Hayashi (Brooklyn, NY).

The family thanks Hospice of the Valley for their care and assistance.

Friends and family of Annie are invited to a memorial service on June 16 at 11 a.m. at the Santa Clara Valley Japanese Christian Church, 40 Union Avenue, Campbell.

In lieu of flowers, please consider gifts in memory of Annie Sueda to the church or charity of your choice.
