Trump poses real threat to world peace, stability

- — Jyl Lutes, Salinas

I just read the article regarding Trump calling Trudeau “backstabbing” (“White House takes up fight vs. ‘back-stabbing’ Trudeau,” Page A4, June 11); clearly, our president’s behavior has reached a new low.

The president of the United States resorting to schoolyardbully behavior not only further humiliates the U.S. in the eyes of the world, but, coupled with his insistence on meeting with despot Kim Jong Un and proposing that Russia be readmitted to the G-7, makes it abundantly obvious that this man is incapable of leading this nation.

His sense of patriotism is aberrant and unbalanced, and is posing a genuine threat to world peace and stability. Leaders of the G-7 are internationally respected and don’t deserve to be exposed to the imprudently childish tactics of name-calling.

Regardless of the outcomes of the midterm elections, or whether or not Trump stands for re-election in 2020, this country is entitled to a grownup president, one who eschews tantrums and infantile behavior.
