4 Sunnyvale men arrested in deadly San Jose stabbing
SAN JOSE >> Four men from Sunnyvale have been arrested on multiple criminal charges in connection with a fatal stabbing in West San Jose last weekend, police said.
The killing was reported at 4:12 a.m. June 9 near San Tomas Aquino Road and Payne Avenue, according to San Jose police. Responding officers found a man suffering from a serious stab wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
That victim was identified as 20-year-old San Jose resident Valentin Martinez Botello, according to the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office.
Police also encountered three other male victims with stab wounds, but they are expected to survive.
One suspect, 21-year-old Adrian Rodriguez Calvert, was arrested at the crime scene, police said.
An ensuing investigation identified three other Sunnyvale residents in the attack: Gener Rabino, 18; Noe Santillano, 21; and Mark Romero, 19.
Rabino was arrested Tuesday in Sunnyvale, while Santillano and Romero were arrested Thursday in Palo Alto and San Jose, respectively.
All four suspects have been booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on suspicion of one count of murder and three counts of attempted murder.
Sgt. Enrique Garcia said investigators are still trying to determine a motive in the stabbings, and that no known connection between the suspects and victims has been found.
The death of Martinez Botello marked the city’s 12th homicide of the year. There were 13 homicides recorded by the same point in 2017.
