What’s with Pratt and Schwarzenegger?
TMZ published photos Tuesday of Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzenegger, the 28-yearold daughter of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver, having a picnic in Santa Barbara on Sunday.
Actually, TMZ shared 46 photos of the “Jurassic World” actor and lifestyle blogger out on their date. But the two didn’t seem to be doing much besides sitting on the ottomans of Adirondack chairs and facing each other while enjoying sandwiches, bags of chips and a couple of apples.
TMZ reported that Pratt, 38, had picked Schwarzenegger up at her home and drove her up the coast to Santa Barbara. At their picnic spot, the two laughed a bit, and then gathered up what was left of their lunch and drove off in a red Ford SUV.
No, there was no handholding or smooching. So maybe they’re just friends. But for friends, they seemed to be very friendly. Jezebel writer Bobby Finger wonders if this sighting of Pratt and Schwarzenegger was intentional on their part. The picnic photo seems so “obviously staged,” said Finger, who incidentally called Pratt “the worst of Hollywood’s four major Chrises.”
Finger said, “It’s common among purveyors of celebrity gossip … to throw around phrases like ‘they obviously called the paparazzi’ when a public outing is so obviously staged.” Finger said it’s entirely possible that an A-lister like Pratt is tailed at all times and can’t go anywhere in public without being photographed.
“Having said that, Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzenegger obviously called the paparazzi before going on this picnic date,” Finger wrote.
If the photos are staged, what could be the benefit to one or both of them? And are they really dating, or do they just want people to get all fired up speculating that they are? Katherine Schwarzenneger may be the child of people who have spent their careers chasing the spotlight in entertainment, media and politics. But Katherine herself is not in “the business.”
