Lincoln Avenue road diet has light impact in Willow Glen

- Gary Richards Columnist

QHow many drivers like me who used to love going to the Willow Glen area have just stopped going because of the road diet? I avoid the area like the plague, so therefore, I no longer shop or spend money in the area. — Sheri Rozario

AThis is the first complaint I’ve received in many months. Early data suggests that pedestrian counts and bicyclist use are up, and that traffic delays are less than a couple of years ago when Lincoln Avenue was reduced from four to two lanes with a center lane reserved for left turns. Anyone else?

QFor the second time in 3 years my family has experienced the cost and indignity of a $42 parking citation in Los Gatos.

Most recently we barely exceeded the 3-hour time limit in a virtually empty MUNI LOT 4, and in September of 2015 our crime was parking ever so slightly outside of the white markings on a virtually deserted North Santa Cruz Avenue. In each instance we had ventured to Los Gatos from our Berryessa home to

AQdo business, $137 worth on the recent outing at 5 separate merchants.

But now we are done spending our money there. Please warn your readers. — Debbie Goldman-Hall, San Jose Parking in Los Gatos can be difficult, but here’s an idea. Give Willow Glen a try.

Recently I received a speeding ticket in Modesto, but I was never in that area at that time and have my work time card to prove it. I went to the Stanislaus County Traffic Court to contest it, and the judge dismissed the ticket.

As I was waiting for my discharge documents, the bailiff suggested that I file a police report saying this was a clear case of identity theft and someone is driving a car that is not mine with my ID. He said I could do it in Modesto, or Hollister where I live.

I went to the Hollister Police and called their non-emergency number per instruction. The person who answered the phone said that I should file the report in Modesto where the ticket was issued. I called Modesto police, and they referred me back to the Hollister police and hung up. — Kelvin Jones, Hollister

ABruce-the-RoadshowTraffic-Cop said you should report this theft to your home police department. If not satisfied, then ask to speak to a supervisor. “It’s ridiculous that his own PD would not service him,” said Bruce.

QAre the metering lights at the ramp from Interstate 280 to Highway 85 malfunctioning, being permanently removed or a victim of copper thieves? Their absence has made that intersection quite a choke point in the morning. — Jerry Isaac and many more

AThere were electrical problems. All should be fixed now.
