Shooting sends boy to hospital
SAN JOSE >> Police are investigating a shooting that sent a boy to a hospital, the second shooting last week to involve a male juvenile.
Officers received word just before 2 p.m. Thursday that someone had been shot at Havana Drive and Tampa Way in East San Jose. They arrived to find that the victim had been driven to a medical facility for treatment, according to Sgt. Enrique Garcia.
Garcia said the boy was shot at least once. His wounds were described as nonlife threatening.
No suspects have been identified or arrested. The motive and circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation.
The shooting resulted in the lockdowns of Blanca Alvarado School, Overfelt High School, Most Holy Trinity School and Hubbard Elementary School, Garcia said.
The attack follows the stabbing of a man at Quimby and White roads on Wednesday and the shooting of a 15-year-old boy
in the 900 block of Walnut Woods Drive, near Story Road and Lucretia Avenue, on Monday.
Both victims were expected to survive. Anyone with information about the stabbing and shootings can leave a tip with Silicon Valley Crime Stoppers at 408947-STOP (7867) or svcrimestoppers.org.
