Edward Surian passed away at age 87 on August 30, 2018, having lived a productive, vigorous and successful life. Born August 16, 1931, in San Francisco, Ed moved to the Almaden Valley near San Jose as a child. After graduating from Campbell High School, he went to work as a carpenter where he learned the trade and honed his skills before joining his father and brother in his family’s general contractin­g business, Frank Surian & Sons. After building up and running a well-known, highly regarded and successful business, he retired in 2005. He enjoyed traveling the world, tending his garden, razzing his golf buddies and trying to increase the family fortunes by hitting the tables in Lake Tahoe, Reno and Las Vegas. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Bette Surian, daughter Kathi Cramer (Steve), son David Surian (Paula), sister Barbara Surian, two grandchild­ren and five great-grandchild­ren. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Sr.; his mother, Evelyn; his brother, Frank Jr.; his sisters, Gloria and Claire; and his grandson, Danny Cramer. A celebratio­n of his life will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2018, from 3 pm-7 pm at Cinnabar Hills Golf Club, 23600 McKean Rd., San Jose, CA 95141. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ed’s memory can be made in memory of his grandson Danny: Danny Cramer Foundation, 163 S. Roslyn Street, Denver, CO 80230.
