Jay Butterfiel­d threw five touchdown passes as Liberty remained undefeated with a dominant performanc­e, rolling past Rocklin 51-9. Two of Butterfiel­d’s scoring passes went to Sione Vaki, who also ran for a touchdown. … In an outcome that almost certainly will have North Coast Section Division II seeding implicatio­ns come playoff time, Campolindo fell two touchdowns behind at halftime and was unable to complete a comeback in the second half as it fell to 2-1 on the season with a 35-21 loss at Rancho Cotate. … Freedom improved to 3-1, but the 20-7 victory over San Leandro (1-3) wasn’t easy. Wilcox scored early and often on its home field, running its record to 3-0 with a 55-14 rout of Aragon (0-2). Paul M. Rosa scored three touchdowns and Gabe Herrera added two touchdowns to help lead the way. Ryan Cooper Jr. also scored for the 12thranked Chargers, who opened the season with wins over Valley Christian and San Benito. … Anthony Villegas scored on a 10yard run in overtime as Palma, which lost to Menlo-Atherton by 23 last year, stunned the Bears 26-20 in Atherton. In overtime, M-A went for a touchdown on fourth down from the 1 and was stopped. … San Benito remains Los Gatos’ nemesis. The Haybalers, coming off a 37-6 loss to Wilcox on the same field eight days earlier, led 16-9 at halftime and 23-16 through three quarters on their way to their fourth consecutiv­e win over Los Gatos. … After Clovis West (0-4) closed to within one point at 14-13 in the second quarter, No. 16 Valley Christian (2-1) went on a 28-0 run to win going away 42-20. Michael Corini scored two rushing touchdowns for Valley Christian and Isaiah McElvane and D’Von Lang each had one. … Tevita Moimoi ran for over 200 yards and found the end zone four times as Sacred Heart Prep (3-0) pulled away in the second half for a 54-18 win over Saratoga. Saratoga (1-2) got within 15-12 near the end of the second quarter, but Ronan Donnelly hit a 45-yard field goal right before intermissi­on. … Jordan Ausbie ran for a 16-yard touchdown late in the fourth quarter for the eventual winning score in Independen­ce’s 35-33 victory over Piedmont Hills. Independen­ce improved to 3-0 for the first time since 2012. … Isaac Black rushed for 206 yards and two touchdowns, and Michael Graham III added 123 yards on the ground and another score as Del Mar beat Westmont 35-3. The Dons improved to 2-0 for the first time since 2008. … Pioneer (3-0) had a number of big plays in its 49-13 victory over Gilroy. Backup QB Daniel Monticalvo, who entered the game for Pioneer after a shoulder injury in the first series to starter Austin Jobe, completed eight of his nine passes for 234 yards and two touchdowns. Pioneer also ran the ball well, as Edgar Valencia rushed for 146 yards and three touchdowns, including a 54-yarder . ... Jefferson (2-1) came back from a 22-21 deficit to beat Tennyson 43-29. Jesse Cruz had a 41-yard field goal for Tennyson (3-1), and Ja’kobe Harris added a 29-yard touchdown run for the Lancers.
