Driver sought in hit-and-run that injured teen
FREMONT >> Authorities are seeking the public’s help in finding a motorist who allegedly drove off after hitting a teenage bicyclist on Blacow Road near Fremont Boulevard last week.
The crash occurred about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, when the driver exited a shopping center on the southeast corner of the intersection. The bicyclist was knocked to the ground and hit his head. Fremont police described the teen’s injuries as nonlife threatening.
The motorist did not stop and drove off eastbound on Blacow Road, according to police.
Because the hit-and-run collision was not reported right away, officers have “very little evidence and no significant leads,” police said in a news release Friday night. They do not have a license plate number or any surveillance footage of the car.
The car was described as an early 2000s Chevrolet sedan. The driver appeared to be a Latino man in his late 30s with a medium build and short facial hair, according to police.
Anyone with information related to the hit-andrun can call traffic investigator Jacob Shannon at jshannon@fremont.gov or 510-790-6800, ext. 3.
