Three arrested in teen’s stabbing
MORGAN HILL » Three young men have been arrested in connection with a stabbing that left a 16-year-old boy in critical condition Friday night, according to police.
The stabbing was reported around 10:40 p.m. near Tennant Avenue and Church Street. Officers did not find a victim when they arrived but they later learned a 16-year-old boy had been dropped off at a hospital to be treated for multiple stab wounds to his back.
The following night, an officer stopped a vehicle that matched the description of one associated with the stabbing. The driver, a 17-year-old boy, was identified as a suspect in the case.
The teen’s arrest led police to two more suspects — Roman Yerkovich and Luis Pineda, both 19 and of Morgan Hill. Yerkovich surrendered at the police department and Pineda was arrested at his home Monday.
Yerkovich and Pineda were booked into Santa Clara County Jail on attempted murder and conspiracy charges. The 17-yearold, whose name was not released because he is a minor, was booked into Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall on the same charges.
Additional details about the case, including a possible motive, were not immediately available.
The investigation into the stabbing is continuing, and anyone with information can contact Detective Fernando Del Moral at 408-7792101 or the anonymous tip line at 408-947-STOP (7867).
