Pair was spotted at New York City Marriage Bureau
It looks like Justin Bieber and model Hailey Baldwin will be saying “I do” much sooner than expected because the lovebirds took a trip to the New York City Marriage Bureau on Thursday to get a license, TMZ reported.
Several eyewitnesses told TMZ that Bieber, 24, became emotional while getting the license. The pop singer started to cry and at one point said to his 21-year-old fiancee, “I can’t wait to marry you, baby.”
An eyewitnesses said Bieber also told a court official, “Thanks for keeping it on the DL.” Obviously that didn’t work.
A second eyewitness said they heard Bieber and Baldwin were leaving the country, and TMZ cited sources as saying the plan is for the two to travel and marry some time in the next week. Meanwhile, a third eyewitness claimed that the court official was a “judge,” which suggests Bieber and Baldwin actually got married instead of getting a license to wed at a later date.
But TMZ said it can’t
confirm that. TMZ said Bieber and Baldwin had previously set “a clear plan” to not get married this year. But the Daily Mail cites New York state requirements, which say that a marriage license “is valid for 60 calendar days, beginning the day after it is issued.” So it’s likely they’ll say their “I dos” before the end of the year. That is, if they’re not already married.
Bieber and Baldwin announced their somewhat surprising and sudden engagement in July with gushing social media posts. It was surprising because it wasn’t known then that they were even dating,
though they had been friendly over the years and Baldwin had been part of Bieber’s circle of acquaintances who regularly attended the Hillsong megachurch in Los Angeles.
In his Instagram post confirming that he proposed to Baldwin, Bieber gushed at length about how she’s the love of his life. He also explained how committed he is to leading “our family with honor and integrity, letting Jesus through his Holy Spirit guide us in everything we do and every decision we make.”
