Castaway grand opening at River Islands

- BY RIVER ISLANDS

With the grand opening this weekend of Castaway, River Islands now offers an all-new neighborhood with all of the freedom of a lock-and-go, lowmaintenance lifestyle. Castaway includes three model homes, ranging in size from approximately 1,574 square feet to 1,775 square feet, with three and four bedrooms. Castaway is the third collection of homes currently being built at River Islands by family-owned Van Daele Homes. Their other neighborhoods, Summer House and Latitude, have been best-sellers since their openings.

Castaway has sold more than 25 homes since its preview showing began. Homebuyers have been attracted to the detached two-story bungalows and the single-level carriage-style flats which are built above the garages that serve the homes. The clean architectural style fits in well with the River Islands design palette. The model homes, built along the shoreline of one of River Islands’ many lakes, will be open for touring starting on Saturday, Sept. 22.

Overall, River Islands now offers 30 different home designs in its nine neighborhoods that are currently offered for sale, with prices

starting in the high $300,000 range and going up into the $600,000 range. Single-story homes and two-story homes suit a number of lifestyles, and some homes have built-in in-law suites, which are also popular for families with adult children.

River Islands has carefully selected its builders, bringing some of the Bay Area’s and Sacramento’s favorite brands to its Lathrop location. These top builders have brought some of California’s best architectural talents to the community, providing enough diversity in square footage and design to allow the Bay Area starter homebuyer to find a first home,

families to enjoy room to grow, and pre-retirees to enjoy an “empty nest.”

With more than 1,000 homes sold since its 2014 grand opening, River Islands is one of Northern California’s most popular destinations for new homebuyers. Its success is no surprise — not only does the community offer a wide selection of home styles and sizes, it also is host to an array of

amenities that appeal to people of all ages.

In the past few months, a number of neighborhood parks have opened, adding new areas for basketball, softball and picnics. Play structures are in place for small children, and even dogs have their own park. Vega Park is a big central park designed for a variety of large-scale uses, and Sunset Point Park, just next door,

offers bocce courts, sand volleyball, and a seasonal boat rental program to encourage lakeside recreation.

The popular Boathouse restaurant and pub, built overlooking one of the community’s many lakes, is open daily for lunch and dinner.

Six competitionsize soccer fields are being readied for play for an elite regional soccer program now headquartered at River Islands. The first phase of a future 18-mile trail system is now open, providing views out to the San Joaquin River for joggers, bicyclists and walkers. A baseball park is now under construction.

River Islands is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; for more information, go to riverislands. com, or call the Welcome Center at 209-808-5168.
