Truce announced after day of slams
After a day of diatribes, Instagram videos and a lawsuit threat, rappers Nicki Minaj and Cardi B each said they were done with their feud and promised to focus on “the positive.”
“Ok you guys, let’s focus on positive things only from here on out,” Minaj said in a tweet posted Monday night. “We’re all so blessed. I know this stuff is entertaining & funny to a lot of people but I won’t be discussing this nonsense anymore. Thank you for the support & encouragement year after year. Love you.”
Cardi B responded by posting Minaj’s tweet to Instagram with “alright then! Let’s keep it positive and keep it pushing!”
Let’s hope that will be that. Of course, you never know because these two really went at it Monday, revisiting the Sept. 7 shoethrowing fight that broke out between them at the Harper’s Bazaar Icons party at New York Fashion Week.
Minaj, 35, on Monday brought up the fight on her “Queen Radio” show, offering new details, such as how she and her people were somehow the aggressors by saying that her friend Rah Ali “really, really beat Cardi’s ass bad,” according to Us Weekly.
Minaj claimed that Ali punched Cardi, 26, at least eight times. The “Bang Bang” singer then said Cardi falsely claimed that a security guard, trying to break up the fight, hit her, leaving her with a knot above her eye, Us Weekly continued.
Minaj said she and her team let that claim ride “for legal reasons.” But Minaj said video would prove otherwise, offering $100,000 to anyone who could produce video that would substantiate her claim about Cardi being assaulted.
“There is no way I can lie about this because there is surveillance footage from the building where the assault took place,” Minaj said, according to Us Weekly.
Then, Cardi hopped on Instagram and published a lengthy video of herself going off on Minaj. “Here’s my thing Nicki Minaj, right?” she began. “How you sayin’ I got ragged by Rah Ali when there’s so many footages of that night — every single angle — and where am I getting ragged at?”
But as of Monday night, there was a truce in place.
