A woman who set off an Amber Alert after fleeing with her children from a supervised visit at a San Jose park last week was arrested Monday in Colorado Springs where she was found with her kids, authorities said.

San Jose police detectives suspected that 33-year-old Diana Moreira-Del Rio might have headed to the Colorado city where she has family. The detectives requested that the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office send deputies to visit a home connected to Moreira-Del Rio, and on Monday afternoon, they located her and the children.

The children were found safe, police said. MoreiraDel Rio was arrested on a kidnapping warrant that was issued Friday after she and the kids disappeared from Emma Prusch Park, where the mother was visiting her 11-year-old daughter and 1-year-old son under the watch of a social worker.

Police said Moreira-Del Rio left with the baby boy while the social worker was in a restroom with the daughter, and then took the girl when the social worker started looking for the baby.

San Jose police Sgt. Enrique Garcia said MoreiraDel Rio is expected to also be booked on suspicion of child endangerment.
