Coroner identifies two women killed in separate incidents near same intersection
MORGAN HILL >> The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office has identified the two women who were killed Friday in separate collisions on the same stretch of road.
Tiffany Ulaimo, 26, of Gilroy was identified as the passenger who died in a solo-vehicle crash at 3:45 p.m. near Watsonville Road and Venetian Way.
Margaret Snively, 71, of Morgan Hill was identified as the pedestrian who was hit by a vehicle at about 8:10 p.m. while walking north across Watsonville Road, also near Venetian Way.
When officers responded to the first collision they found a vehicle with major front-end damage on the north sidewalk of Watsonville Road. The vehicle had been seen traveling east on Watsonville Road, before it drifted across the westbound lanes of traffic and crashed into a tree, police said.
The driver, a 20-yearold Gilroy man who has not been identified, was found inside the vehicle with Ulaimo, and “both appeared to have significant injuries and were unresponsive,” police said. The driver was listed in critical condition as of Monday, according to police.
When officers and firefighters responded to reports of a crash involving a vehicle and pedestrian that evening, they found Snively and started lifesaving efforts. She was rushed to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival, police said.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, police said.
