Marjory Bunyard
1930 - 2018 Resident of Saratoga
Our beloved Marge passed away peacefully at home on October 22 at the age of 88, comforted and surrounded by family and those who cared for her. She so loved her family, friends and the amazing communities she served with her boundless energy and giving spirit – to know her was to love her. We feel so fortunate to have had Marge in our lives!
Her death was preceded by her parents Leland and Sarah Miller and brother Tom Miller. Marge is survived by her loving husband of 67 years George Bunyard and her children and grandchilden; Marc Bunyard (son) and wife Cindy and their sons, Jeremy, Tyler and Ryan; Sharon Bunyard (daughter); Lynette Bunyard (daughter) and husband Joe Pambianco; and Becky Marinshaw (daughter) and husband Jason Marinshaw and their sons, Jacob, Kevin and Cody.
Marge was born and raised in Texas and received her BA from Oklahoma Baptist University where she met George and married the day they graduated in 1951. She earned her MA in English at Boston University, and on to Nashville while George earned his PhD and she taught speech.
In 1960, they moved to Livermore, CA and were active members in the church and community. and in 1971 moved to Saratoga, where Marge continued her involvement with church, education, and politics while working as a speech communications consultant to various organizations and enjoying 10 years at Tandem Computers before retiring. After retirement, she continued to enjoy and was deeply committed to being of service in so many ways to the many organizations she volunteered, some of which include: Los Gatos- Saratoga Union High School Board and PTA, Hakone Gardens Foundation, Valley Institute of Theater Arts (VITA), Saratoga Lions Club, Saratoga Foothill Club, and was voted Saratoga Citizen of the Year. She was a long-time member of both the American Association of University Women (AAUW) and League of Women Voters where she remained actively involved for 50 years!
A celebration of Marge’s life will take place at 1:30 pm on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at The Saratoga Foothill Club at 20399 Park Place, Saratoga, CA. All her family and friends are invited to attend.
