Fodor’s has just released its “Go List,” a collection of 52top destinations around the world, including the spectacular Bears Ears National Monument in Utah. Fodor’s, the travel site, has just released its “Go List,” a collection of 52 top destinations around the world.
(It also released an intriguing “No List” — the top places to avoid. We’ll delve into that next week.)
The “Go List” is a diverse one, with everything from bustling downtown Los Angeles and cosmopolitan Montreal to Bears Ears National Monument, the Nile River and Australia’s sacred Uluru. And it has paid special attention to regions, such as Puerto Rico, where natural disasters inflicted such devastation last year. Puerto Rico, Key West and St. Martin all made the list.
“The beauty of the world is immeasurable, while its disasters teach us powerful lessons about nature and about ourselves,” Fodors.com editorial director Jeremy Tarr said in the announcement. “This year’s lists celebrate travel’s ethos of curiosity, openmindedness and wonder that makes us alive and in touch with our world.” One of the nation’s newest national monuments, Utah’s Bears Ears, is among the baker’s dozen of top North American destinations, chosen for its rugged beauty, cultural history and sacred meaning for the Navajo, Hopi and other tribes. New Orleans’ colorful Bywater, in the Ninth Ward, is included, along with Tucson and its vivid adobes, Sonoran Desert landscapes and arts scene. And Key West, which has rebounded from its pummeling last summer by Hurricane Irma, is a sunny, idyllic travel dream once more. Here’s Fodor’s list of the 13top North American destinations.
