Sketch released of suspect in robbery

PALO ALTO » Authoritie­s on Monday released a sketch of a suspect in a violent robbery near downtown Palo Alto last week.

Palo Alto police said the victim, a man in his 20s, was texting and walking his dog on a bike path that borders the train tracks between Churchill Avenue and the University Avenue transit center about 8:15 p.m. Friday when three men approached him.

One of the suspects knocked the victim to the ground and repeatedly punched him in the face, according to police. They yelled at the victim to hand over his iPhone and AirPods.

Police said the trio took the items, then ran north on the bike path toward downtown.

The victim described the suspect who allegedly attacked him as white or Latino, in his mid-20s, 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing about 225 pounds. The other suspects were described as Latino men in their 20s, both about 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing 190 pounds.

The victim was treated at a hospital for cuts and swelling to his face, according to police.
