Resident of Sparks, Nevada

René Narcise Louis Marchand peacefully passed away in Sparks, Nevada on November 29, 2018. René was born on February 14, 1938 in Gap, France and moved to the United States as a young boy. He graduated from Idaho State University with a degree in Mathematics and played on their football team as an all-star halfback.

René and Florence raised their family in Silicon Valley where Rene’ had a successful career as a nuclear engineer and project manager at General Electric. Rene’ was an adventurer and travelled for work and pleasure. He travelled with his wife throughout Europe, Alaska, Hawaii and most of the National Parks. At home, René enjoyed exploring Bear Valley and hosting friends and family at the cabin.

Most of all, René was larger-than-life to his many friends and family. To know René was to experience unconditional love; he had a one-of-a kind smile and he always gave out free advice and bear hugs. He had a welcoming way about him and everyone that met him became a friend. René had so many friends ranging from his first days in Idaho to the adoring caregivers that watched over him at the Lodge.

René is predeceased by his parents Jean and Ida and brother Lucien. René is survived by his wife Florence, sister-in-law Karen, daughters Chrissy and Laurie, son-inlaw Andy, nephew Scott (family Robbi, Jared, Lucas and Camille), niece Missy and grandchildren Matthew and Kendall.
