‘Hamilton’ fever ready to grip Bay Area again

It’s easy to see why. The Tony, Grammy, Olivier and Pulitzer Prizeportr­ait winning musical is an electrifyi­ng hip-hop-infused portrait of one of the less-celebrated founding fathers (until now, anyway) — Aly exander Hamilton, the first secretary of the Treasury and one of the authors of the Federalist Papers — largely cast with performers of color playing iconic historical figures. (Oakland native and longtime Bay Area actor and rapper Daveed Diggs leaped to national renown playing Lafayette and Jefferson off- and on Broadway.)

“Hamilton” is currently selling tickets for 30 wee mances at the Orpheum, through Sept. 8, with plan to stay longer as demand … well, demands.
