Nell foster Rogers and Guy Rogers. He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Kay (Helen) Rogers. He was the loving father of 3 children, Scott, Leslie and Glenn, 8 grandchildren Brian, Eric, Westley, Michael, Evan, Sarah, Lauren, and Alex and 3 great-grandchildren Audrey, Julian and Sawyer. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews.

Rene was born in New Llano, LA and grew up in Florida. His early careers included typewriter repair and taxi driving. He also spent 4 years in the Navy as a radar technician. After getting his Masters in Electrical Engineering, he moved to Silicon Valley to work in the aerospace industry, including Varian Associates, Teledyne MEC and Litton. He was also a successful real estate broker, Arrowhead Properties in Sunnyvale, before returning to the tech industry.

One of his greatest passions growing up was amassing his prized arrowhead collection. He loved classical music, woodworking and all things scientific and mathematical. He will forever be known for sharing his stories, poems and tasteless jokes. New family members, colleagues and perfect strangers – no one was safe!

Another passion was helping others. Whether it was fixing the neighbor’s plumbing, volunteering at grandkids’ school, getting kids on their feet or doling out advice, Rene was sought after and never hesitated to give of himself.

His dedication to family, near and far, made him a most beloved figure. Our fabulous relatives in Florida and Arizona were steadfast in their connection and communication. His face would light up whenever he got a call or email from these wonderful folks. All the kids and grandkids looked forward to visits with “Grandpa” – they always made Christmas at their house a priority. We all benefitted from his great wisdom and love. He spent the last months of his life surrounded by family, feeding the chickens and taking care of Murphy the cat.
