Diana Krall, Chris Botti set for Monterey Jazz Fest

Favorites, new acts will take the stage at 62nd annual event Sept. 27-29

Diana Krall, Chris Botti, Snarky Puppy and Christian McBride are among the bigname acts and talents set for the 62nd annual Monterey Jazz Festival.

The stellar lineup, announced earlier this week, also features Kenny Barron and Dave Holland, Tank and the Bangas, Bob James, David Sanborn and Marcus Miller, Eliane Elias and dozens of other artists.

In total, the festival will feature more than 130 performanc­es during its threeday run, Sept. 27-29 at the Monterey County Fair & Event Center.

“You will see a few of your longtime favorites, yet also experience a wide range of what’s new in jazz and beyond,” said Tim Jackson, the festival’s artistic director.

Three-day ticket packages — $340-$345 for arena shows, $50-$150 for rest-ofgrounds shows — recently went on sale at montereyja­zzfestival.org or by calling 888-248-6499. Single-day tickets — $87-$174 arena, $20-$45 rest of grounds — go on sale May 10.

Drummer Allison Miller and bassist Derrick Hodge will be this year’s artists-inresidenc­e, while Christian McBride is the 2019 commission artist and showcase artist.
