Man hospitalized after shooting in parking lot

CONCORD >> A man was hospitalized with multiple gunshot wounds after the second shooting in the city in two days, police said.

Police are searching for a man who they say shot another man in the parking lot of Six Flags Hurricane Harbor at 1950 Waterworld Parkway Saturday afternoon after an apparent argument between them.

Just before 5 p.m., the Concord Police Department received 911 calls about the shooting, and officers were sent to the parking lot of the water park, which was still open for business at the time, according to Sgt. Josh Graham.

Officers found a man suffering from “multiple gunshot wounds,” who was taken to an area hospital for treatment, and is expected to survive, according to a statement from the department.

“At this time, the shooting appears to be an isolated incident that stemmed from an argument between the suspect and the victim,” police said.

Police described the suspect in the shooting as a black man, weighing about 220 pounds with tattoos all over his back. The suspect vehicle is an older model, silver Honda four-door sedan with front bumper damage, police said.

The water park parking lot shooting occurred less than 24 hours after the fatal shooting of Daniel Schrader, which happened about 11:15 p.m. Friday at the Motel 6 at 3606 Clayton Road, police said.

Police had posted photos Saturday afternoon of Adam Renfroe, a 32-yearold from Brentwood, and Robert Brown, a 40-yearold from Bay Point, saying the two are being sought for the homicide. Police do not consider it related to Saturday’s shooting.
