Jolie letting Pitt have the kids for summer
More than seven months after ending their bitter custody battle, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie continue to put aside their differences enough that the actress is allowing her exhusband to have their six children for the summer, a report says.
In fact, Jolie, 43, is said to have reached out to Pitt, 55, and offered to let him take care of their children while she spends the summer in New Mexico filming, a source told the U.K. tabloid The Sun.
“Angelina is going to be spending a lot of the summer filming ‘Those Who Wish Me Dead,’ so she reached out to Brad and offered him the chance to look after the children,” the source said. “This is a massive step for them and the children, who have only had limited time with Brad since the break-up,” the source added.
Pitt and Jolie’s children are Maddox, 17; Pax, 15; Zahara, 14; Shiloh, 13; and twins Vivienne and Knox, 10.
Pitt has been busy in recent months promoting the highly anticipated “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.” The film, directed by Quentin Tarantino, also stars Leonardo DiCaprio and opens July 26.
Jolie stunned the pop culture universe in 2016 by filing for divorce from Pitt, her partner in a glamorous, globe-trotting movie star life. The couple met while filming “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” in 2004 and married in 2014. The “Maleficent” star’s divorce filing unleashed headlines that focused on her allegations that Pitt had anger management problems and had been abusive.
Her side claimed she had no choice but to file for divorce and try to limit his time with the children.
A reported altercation between Pitt and Maddox prompted investigations by federal and state child welfare authorities. Pitt ultimately was cleared of child abuse allegations, but Jolie also alleged in their custody fight that he was a deadbeat dad who had not paid his full share of child care expenses.
Pitt’s side fired back with charges that Jolie was vindictively trying to undermine his relationship with their children.
In December, Pitt and Jolie reached a settlement that reportedly allowed him to spend increasing amounts of time with the kids.
