Two arrested for car burglaries at Stanford mall
PALO ALTO >> Authorities last week arrested a pair of San Francisco men in connection with at least two automobile burglaries at the Stanford Shopping Center last month.
On Aug. 8, officers spotted a vehicle used in the burglaries traveling northbound on Alma Street toward the mall, Palo Alto police spokeswoman Janine De La Vega said in a news release Thursday.
Officers stopped the car at Sand Hill Road and Vineyard Lane and took its occupants — 19-year-old Kamron Johnese and 20-yearold Kevon Rabb — into custody, De La Vega said.
De La Vega said officers found two window punches inside the vehicle — one near the driver’s seat and one on the front passenger seat. The tools are often used by burglars to smash windows.
An item stolen in a July 25 automobile burglary at the mall was also allegedly found inside the car. Officers linked Rabb to that case, which involved the theft of two backpacks containing electronics, De La Vega said.
Johnese was connected to a second automobile burglary on July 30. He allegedly broke the window of a car but didn’t take anything.
De La Vega said Johnese and Rabb were arrested and booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail in San Jose on automobile burglary and possession of burglary tool charges.
“Detectives are continuing to investigate the suspects,” De La Vega said in the news release. “They may be connected to other (automobile) burglaries in surrounding cities.”
