49ers fans: New food choices at Levi’s Stadium Fieri’s chicken, Gemignani’s pizza and other Bay Area favorites on roster
If you’re among the 49ers Faithful who are also foodies, plan to arrive early for games — and hungry.
Levi’s Stadium and the facility’s hospitality partner, Levy, have brought in a huge lineup of Bay Area restaurant favorites this season. Here’s a rundown on what’s new, what’s returning and what’s expanding.
GUY FIERI’S CHICKEN GUY » Levi’s is home to the celebrity chef’s first Chicken Guy concession stand in the state. The concept from the mayor of Flavortown features super-crunchy chicken tenders and 22 dipping and drizzling sauces, ranging from Donkey Sauce (of course) to classics (Buffalo, teriyaki) to spicy (Nashville hot honey, peri peri, sweet Sriracha BBQ). Section 309
SLICE HOUSE BY TONY GEMIGNANI » This is the first South Bay eatery for the Bay Area pizza king who has restaurants in San Francisco and Walnut Creek, and this one offers a 49ers-style Tony’s Tailgate pizza, topped with meatballs, pepperoni, salami, bacon, ricotta, mozzarella and green onions. United Club
SANDI’S SOUL FOOD » You may have eaten fruit cobblers baked by Sandra Dailey, a 32-year Santa Clara resident, at the Monterey and San Jose jazz festivals and last year at Levi’s. This year the chef-caterer is operating a full food booth with seafood gumbo and jambalaya, macaroni and cheese, cobbler cups and pecan bars. Section 120
CURRY ROOTS » Look for Meena Sanghera’s chicken tikka masala bowls, tandoori chicken chipotle flatbread, spicy Fried Chicken 65 and the popular vegan samosas with mango chutney. Section 128
IGUANAS » The Burritozilla is in the house. This family-owned Mexican chain, founded locally in 1994, comes to Levi’s for the first time, bringing massive burritos filled with carne asada, chile verde, chipotle chicken, grilled chicken, al pastor or carnitas. Section 116
BLUE LINE PIZZA » This expanding Bay Area restaurant company is filling up the Faithful with deep-dish this season. (Or thin crust, if you prefer.) Go for the Classic, loaded up with Italian sausage, mushrooms, bell peppers, mozzarella and marinara. Section 112
COPITA » Bay Area chef, restaurateur and TV personality Joanne Weir returns with an expanded presence — three stands this season — serving margaritas and tacos with chicken tinga, carne asada and carnitas. Sections 106, 110, 129
CHURWAFFLE » The Burgess Brothers are serving their bite-size cross between a cornbread waffle and a churro. The ChurWaffle and chicken combo is the most popular order. T103, Touchdown Terrace
KONJOE BURGER » Joey Camacho’s local burger enterprise is doing burgers and jalapeño bacon burgers — both made with California-sourced beef — along with a spicy chicken sandwich and their Homie Fries topped with smoked, pulled pork, spicy linguica and Konjoe sauce. Section 320
STARBIRD » This free-range chicken sandwich purveyor, which launched in Sunnyvale a few years ago, is serving up chicken tenders and house fries, both cooked in non-GMO rice bran oil, and housemade lemonade. Section 113
SUPER DUPER » Also new to Levi’s is this growing San Francisco-based chain, which specializes in burgers made of vegetarian-fed beef from family-owned ranches. There’s a vegan burger too, and garlic fries tossed with garlic and aged cheddar. Section 118
THE CHAIRMAN » First introduced last year to 49ers fans, The Chairman and his bao are available at two concession stands this season. Owner Curtis Lam’s signature steamed bun is a bao stuffed with miso-glazed pork belly and topped with turmeric-pickled daikon. Sections 105, 119
FROM THE LEVY CHEFS AT LEVI’S » Look for sourdough crab sandwiches, a bulgogi cheesesteak and Budweiser beer cheese burger. They’re also partnering with Gilroy’s venerable Silva Sausage Co., and the produce and herbs hail from the Faithful Farm on the stadium’s roof.
GOLD BAR WHISKEY » This San Francisco distillery has created a new signature cocktail, the Gold Bar Mule, garnished with mint grown on the stadium roof and served in a commemorative tumbler.
