The key to electricity
For vehicles that are stored, it’s important to disconnect the battery. This prevents electrical fires and means the battery will not be drained by the car: It will be charged and ready when it’s time to start the vehicle. Flaming River Industries sells several mechanical battery-disconnect switches (which also prevent hot wiring/theft), as well as a full line of Electro Wizard automatic units. When the FR1052 Watchdog is wired into the vehicle’s 12-volt system, it cuts power to the battery when the ignition key is turned off. Switch the key to the on position and the power automatically comes back. Essentially, it turns the battery on and off with the ignition. The FR1052’s timedelay feature can be set for up to six minutes before the power is interrupted.
