Hussle’s family gets guardianship of his daughter
Nipsey Hussle’s family was successful in their claims that the birth mother of his 10-yearold daughter Emani Asghedom is an unfit parent because a judge has agreed to let them become the girl’s guardians.
TMZ reported that the court Tuesday apparently found sufficient evidence that Emani’s mother, Tanisha Foster, could not provide a stable home for the girl.
In an apparent response to the court ruling, Foster posted photos of herself with Emani and of herself with Hussle on Instagram with the caption “I miss you.”
Previous reports said that Foster and the rapper were at one time in a serious relationship, long before he met actress Lauren London, whom he began dating about five years ago and who is the mother of his 3-year-old son, Kross.
Hussle’s sister Samantha Smith moved to become Emani’s guardian shortly after Hussle was shot and killed outside his South Los Angeles clothing store on March 31.
Smith said Emani had been living with her father, 33, when he died and that she and other family members had “been a presence” in the girl’s life. Smith’s petition said she was seeking guardianship to ensure that Emani “can continue to live with family members with whom she has always had close ties,” reports said. TMZ said the court appointed Smith and Hussle’s brother, Sam Asghedom, and mother, Angelique Smith, to be guardians for Emani.
But the legal fight over who gets to raise Emani has been more than about the girl’s custody. It also is tied up with settling Hussle’s estate, which includes an estimated $2 million in assets, TMZ reported.
Because Hussle the musician, entrepreneur and community activist died before executing a will, it has been expected that Emani and Kross would share equally in the estate. TMZ reported on Tuesday that London, Kross’ mother, also received a judge’s approval to manage the estimated $1 million the little boy will inherit.
Kross lives with London and is on good terms with Hussle’s family, so there was no legal fight over who would manage his inheritance.
