A season of openings at River Islands in Lathrop
In a year of grand openings at River Islands, the masterplanned community is showcasing new neighborhoods and an array of new amenities and services to make the River Islands lifestyle even more attractive. In total, River Islands now has 11 different neighborhoods, with offerings as varied as three-bedroom homes at approximately 1,800 square feet to six-bedroom homes with more than 4,200 square feet of living space. Both single-story and two-story plans are available, and more than 35 model homes are open for touring.
The first stop on the community tour is the redesigned Welcome Center, at the corner of River Islands Parkway and Somerston Parkway. The Welcome Center has tour guides, maps to the model homes and free downloading of the new River Islands mobile app.
The Welcome Center staff can help firsttime visitors acquaint themselves with the entire master plan and its many features.
Almost all of the neighborhoods at River Islands are proximate to one of the community’s lifestyle amenities. In the late summer, Kiper Homes introduced Newport, a collection of luxury homes built around its own lake. In September, Van Daele unveiled Bridgeport’s four lakefront models. Anthem United’s Haven celebrated its grand opening with homes that are close to the trail system that extends along the San Joaquin River. Latitude’s homes face out to a park with a lake just beyond it, and Watermark is being built across from a 15-acre park, now in design — the largest park in River Islands to date.
All of the new homes being built at River Islands showcase the best in design, energy efficiency and a number of state-of-the-art smart features.
At the master plan level, River Islands opened up six competition-size soccer fields earlier in the season and held a communitywide grand opening of Islanders Field, its own 500-seat baseball stadium. Both sports facilities allow River Islands to host traveling league play.
The Lathrop-Manteca Fire District has a state-of-the-art fire station at River Islands. In addition, the city of Lathrop’s new police administration building has now started construction. It will be located near Bradshaw’s Crossing
Bridge, just off River Islands Parkway.
Plans are underway for next season’s River Islands Farmers Market, enhancing the community’s farm-totable lifestyle. Ongoing programs for health and
wellness are tied into activities as diverse as a bocce league which meets at The Boathouse restaurant and pub, and a neighborhood dog park, complete with separate areas for big and small dogs.
River Islands has two schools, both K-8, open within the
community. River Islands Technology Academy and the Next Generation STEAM Academy are both charter schools, with wide-reaching curricula. Plans are now underway for the design of a third K-8 school, as well as a charter high school in River Islands.
