Police arrest suspect in child molestation case
SAN JOSE >> A man suspected of molesting a 13-year-old girl three times on the Los Alamitos Trail in San Jose between September and October is behind bars, authorities said Thursday.
Detectives identified Ali Mohammad Lajmiri, 76, of San Jose, as a suspect in the case, obtained a warrant for his arrest and took him into custody Tuesday, according to San Jose police Sgt. Enrique Garcia.
Garcia said Lajmiri was booked into Santa Clara County jail on charges of lewd and lascivious acts on a minor under the age of 14; lewd and lascivious acts on a minor under the age of 14 by the use of force, violence, duress, menace or fear; and false imprisonment.
The victim encountered the suspect on the Los Alamitos Trail between Harry Road and Camden Avenue
five times while walking her dog, according to San Jose police Officer Gina Tepoorten.
Tepoorten said the suspect spoke to the victim about her dog each time and inappropriately touched her during the last three encounters, all of which occurred in the morning or early evening hours.
Lajmiri was scheduled to appear in court Thursday afternoon. According to online jail records, he is being held at the Elmwood Correctional Facility in Milpitas on $3 million bond.
