Sometimes, the best way to send the year off is with a belly laugh or two (or three). Fortunatel­y, Bay Area clubs are offering a good variety of New Year’s Eve comedy shows.

Greg Proops: The Bay Area comedian, best known for starring in “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” and for his “Smartest Man in the World” podcast, returns for another year-ending run, Monday and Tuesday, at the Punch Line in San Francisco. Brian Copeland: The Bay Area comedian and monologuis­t headlines “Lighten Up New Year’s Eve,” which also features Mark Pitta, Joe Klocek, Justin Lockwood, Clara Clay and others.
