This week’s concerts: Dashboard Confessional, on Harris
Here’s what’s headed to the Bay Area’s pop music stages in the coming week, highlighted by an appear-punk ance from the best folkpunk band to ever come out of Milwaukee. Violent Femmes: The Femmes’ self-titled debut from 1983is a stone-cold classic, featuring such iconic offerings as “Blister in the Sun,” “Add It Up” and “Gone Daddy Gone.” All those numbers will likely be featured when the Milwaukee folk-punk act with lead singer Gordon Gano performs a two-night stand today and Friday at the Fillmore in San Francisco. The Mermen are also on the bill. Details: 8 p.m.; $55; livenation.com. Dashboard Confessiional: Looking for another reason to visit the Fillmore? This Florida alt-rock act, which has three gold-selling albums to its credit, is also setting up shop at San Francisco’s famous venue for two nights, Saturday and Sunday. Dashboard Confessional, led by singer-songwriter Chris Carrabba, is celebrating its 20th anniversary as a band. Piebald opens the shows. Stefon Harris and Blackout: The sensational vibraphonist leads his Blackout band into the SFJazz Center in San Francisco to perform eight shows over four nights, today through Sunday. The band features saxophonist Casey Benjaamin, pianist Marc Cary, bassmer ist Burniss Travis, drummer Terreon Gully (today and Sunday) and drummer Joonathan Pinson (Friday and Saturday).
