Ocean Film Fest swims online
The San Francisco-based International Ocean Film Festival, hampered by coronavirus restrictions, has taken its 17th annual festival online where it runs through Sunday.
“Reconnecting Summer 2020” features 54 feature films, shorts and themed programs as well as livestream interviews, Q&A sessions and panel discussions with the filmmakers.
“We’re all connected by our oceans, and one thing we’ve learned from the ongoing global pandemic is how much we all benefit by staying connected,” said Ana Blanco, executive director of the International Ocean Film Festival. “Our global online student film competition earlier this spring was incredibly successful, so we know our audience is ready to keep saving our oceans, one film at a time, from the comfort and safety of their own homes.”
The virtual festival, which raises money and awareness on the oceans and marine life, will include feature-length films and a new program of 14 shorts and nine themed programs. All films will be eligible for a first-ever Global Audience Choice Award.
Viewers can purchase an all-access pass, allowing them to watch all the films and shorts, or can buy tickets to different segments of the festival.
Details: Tickets and information are available at www.intloceanfilmfest.org. An all-access VIP pass is $100; Blue Whale pass, $60, includes access to each of the nine themed programs; Sea Turtle pass, $45, includes access to any five feature films and three themed programs of the viewer’s choice. Individual films and programs also can be purchased, $10 for a feature film, $12 for a themed program, $12 for a short.
