- — Harold Gutmann

Records: Stanford 2-2,

Oregon State 2-3

Kickoff: 7:30 p.m. today at

Reser Stadium, Corvallis, Ore.

Television: ESPNU

Radio: KNBR/KTCT (1050 AM)

Series history: Stanford has won 10 in a row against the Beavers and is 5825-3 overall, though last year’s game in Corvallis wasn’t decided until a Jet Toner 39-yard field goal with one second remaining gave the Cardinal a 31-28 win.

Storylines: After opening the season with losses to Oregon and Colorado, Stanford has gotten back to .500 with a 24-23 win in the Big Game and a 31-26 win over No. 23Washington. Oregon State, which has played four straight one-score games, beat Cal and Oregon but lost to Washington, Washington State, and Utah. … This game was originally supposed to take place at Stanford Stadium, but the Cardinal practiced in Oregon State’s football facility this week and has been in the Pacific Northwest since Dec. 1 because of a Santa Clara County health order banning contact sports. … Both teams need to win to maintain bowl eligibility.

Roster updates: Stanford is missing four starters due to injury – WRs Michael Wilson and Connor Wedington, CB Salim Turner-Muhammed and OLB Jordan Fox. … Oregon State QB Tristan Gebbia had season-ending surgery on his hamstring earlier this week, but RB Jermar Jefferson will return after missing last week’s game due to coronavirus contact tracing.

Matchup to watch: Mills vs. Oregon State secondary. Mills makes his return to Corvallis, where he got his first win as a starter (in his second career start) last year by accounting for all four Stanford touchdowns — throwing for three in the first half and catching an eight-yard pass in the fourth quarter. Those three passing TDs equal his total through four games this season, though he hasn’t turned the ball over and has only taken five sacks. He’s been especially good during the winning streak but now must do it without two of his top three receivers.

Stats that matter: Jefferson and Stanford RB Austin Jones are tied for the conference lead with seven TDs. … Oregon State ILB Avery Roberts’ 21 tackles last Saturday against Utah are the most by a player nationally this season. … Stanford DE Thomas Booker has blocked an extra point in back-to-back weeks. He is one of two FBS players with two blocked PATs this season, along with Memphis’ CamRon Jackson. … Oregon State’s games have been decided by an average of 5.8 points.
