SjDANCEco’s spring streaming recitals
Spring is usually a busy season for sjDANCEco, and this year is no different, even with a global pandemic going on.
The San Jose troupe is offering a streaming series titled “ReEnvisioned” through May. On the fourth Friday of each month, sjDANCEco will offer highlights from seasons past. The schedule includes:
Friday: A program titled “Shakespeare Dances” is highlighted by the company’s 2012 revival of José Limón’s classic “Othello”themed work “The Moor’s Pavane.”
March 26: The company presents segments from its 2013 world premiere of co-artistic director Maria Basile’s “Tango Fatal,” along with other works.
April 30: The company offers segments from its tribute to American modern dance pioneer Doris Humphrey, featuring her acclaimed work “Day on Earth.”
Meanwhile, the company is also offering free master classes/presentations on the first, second and third Wednesday of the month, with topics covering a range of technical and theoretical aspects of dance.
From April 19-25, the company will host a virtual version of its annual Spring Dance Festival, featuring five to seven streaming performances a day.
On June 11-12, the company presents “Looking Back — Seeing Forward,” a virtual program of all world premieres. Details on that program are still to come.
Details: All programs are free except “Looking Back — Seeing Forward,” $35 per household; more information and access to streaming content available at www.sjdanceco.org.
