I have spent many hours over the last 2 days on high level CDC calls. I have repeated over and over-i have no capacity to operationalize the quarantine plan. Nothing is going to change that. I think it’s very slowly sinking in. I’ve asked our OES to take no action at this time. We’ll see.

Do you think they’re going to deploy feds to do it if locals won’t/can’t? I hope this doesn’t soon become worse than Chris Christie ordering quarantine ?.

I agree about less severity, but also realizing we need to better prepare people for disease here...maybe this will be like H1N1 or a bit worse or better?

One way to describe it may be ‘somewhere between a bad flu and a really bad flu?’ Another productive message may be that current containment efforts appear to be delaying the spread of covid19 into the US so that when community spread does begin, we are better prepared, the public is better educated, and we are that much closer to effective antivirals and eventually a vaccine.

Seattle is not looking this bad yet, and some countries are doing ok. I don’t think Italy is necessarily what we should anticipate.. Dr. Scott Morrow

@smorrow

2020-03-13 03:40 That seems like wishful thinking. I wish for that too.

Probably going to follow SCC’S mass gathering order. Do the numbers 100 and 35 have any basis in anything?

Dr. Marty Fenstersheib @doctormarty1

2020-03-14 20:40

No basis as I can see, The numbers are random. Started at 1000 then 250 now 100. Any gathering should be looked at. I did recommend any gathering if seniors or at risk person be no more than 10

Dr. Chris Farnitano @chris.farnitano 2020-03-19 13:20

Parks and playgrounds are outdoor activities we want to encourage and people can easily maintain social distancing. East Bay Regional Parks we encouraged to stay open and they are except closing indoor and organized group activities.

I am worried about the play structures - fomites -but playing in open spaces encouraged

I just got this from Kat Deburgh: We are in uncharted territory here. But this is what CSAC says: ‘We are still working to determine whether the Governor’s order supersedes local orders already in place, but have been told ‘the intent is for more restrictive local orders to stand’. There are a number of other issues, including the lack of coordination with local health officers. We appreciate your patience, as we know this is a critically important issue for all counties and the communities we serve.’ Kat Deburgh, MPH Executive Director, Health Officers Association of California

anyone else getting questions about outdoor cross fit classes? I would think they need to be really far apart - 8-9 feet? I can’t believe the random questions we are all adjudicating!
