Man sought after robbing Baskin Robbins at gunpoint
Suspect was clad in 49ers and a camo mask
PALO ALTO >> A man is being sought after robbing a Baskin Robbins ice cream shop at gunpoint Monday evening, taking cash out of the register and the employees’ tip jar, according to Palo Alto police.
The armed robbery was reported about 7:41 p.m. at 2615 Middlefield Road. An employee there told police that a man came inside and ordered something, and when she returned with his order he pointed a black, semi-automatic handgun at her.
Police said the man, shown in security images wearing a black San Francisco 49ers hat and a camouflage-style mask over his lower face, then ordered the employee to open the cash register. He took money and then drove off in a four-door sedan, heading south on Middlefield Road.
Further review of the security footage revealed that while the employee was preparing his order, he took money out of a tip jar placed near the register, according to police.
No injuries were reported. The suspect was described as a White man in his early 20s with short, black hair and the aforementioned 49ers hat and camo mask. The security image shows him wearing what appears to be a black jacket embroidered with a Calvin Klein insignia.
