Haliburton, Hield step up as Kings rout the Pistons

Buddy Hield scored 22 points and Tyrese Haliburton added 17 points and 10 assists as the Sacramento Kings routed the Detroit Pistons 129-107 on Monday night.

The Kings ended a fourgame losing streak, taking control with a 26-2 run for a 33-12 lead early in the second quarter.

Richaun Holmes had 19 points and eight rebounds for the Kings. De’Aaron Fox had 19 points and nine assists for Sacramento, which had six players with at least 15 points.

Cade Cunningham had 25 points, eight rebounds and eight assists for Detroit. Saddiq Bey scored 28, but no one else reached double figures for the Pistons.

WIZARDS 105, PELICANS 100 >> Spencer Dinwiddie scored 19 of his 27 points in the second half, and the Washington Wizards erased a 19-point deficit to beat the New Orleans Pelicans for their fifth consecutiv­e victory.

Washington at 10-3 is off to the franchise’s best start in 47 years when the Bullets opened the 197475 season 11-2. The Wizards have done this with and without All-Star guard Bradley Beal, who missed a second consecutiv­e game mourning the death of his grandmothe­r.

CELTICS 98, CAVALIERS 92 >> Jayson Tatum scored 23 points and Dennis Schroder had six points in the final 76 seconds as the Boston Celtics beat the Cleveland Cavaliers, splitting their two-game set at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.

KNICKS 92, PACERS 84 Immanuel Quickley came off the bench to score 16 points, and the New York Knicks limited the Indiana Pacers to two baskets in the fourth quarter to rally for a 92-84 victory on Monday night.

GRIZZLIES 136, ROCKETS 102 >> Ja Morant had 22 points, six rebounds and six assists, Jaren Jackson Jr. added 18 points and the Memphis Grizzlies beat Houston, sending the Rockets to their 12th straight loss.

HAWKS 129, MAGIC 111 >> Trae Young and John Collins each scored 23 points and the Atlanta Hawks beat the Orlando Magic for their second straight win. TIMBERWOLV­ES FINED $250K FOR ILLEGAL WORKOUTS >> The NBA fined the Minnesota Timberwolv­es $250,000 on Monday for violating league rules that prohibit teams from arranging or paying for offseason practice or group workout sessions for their players outside their home market.

The punishment was connected to team activities in the Miami area.
