Margaret Ann Becker Clark

-

Resident of Saratoga July 3, 1938 – May 4, 2022

Margaret Ann Becker Clark, a resident of San Jose and previously a long-time resident of Saratoga, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side after a long battle with cancer.

The middle child of three children (Dorothy, Margaret and Fred), Margaret was born in Chickasha, Oklahoma in 1938 to Fred and Dorothy Becker. She graduated from Altus High School in Altus, Oklahoma in 1956. Margaret attended college at the University of Oklahoma and was a member of the Chi Omega sorority before leaving school to marry her high school sweetheart, Grady Jeter, in 1958. Margaret spent the first part of her adult life as a stay at home mom for her three children John, Julie and Joan. As her children got older, Margaret went back to college and completed her own education. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in History in 1978 and her Master of Arts degree in Gerontology in 1980, each from San Jose State University. After graduation, Margaret worked tirelessly to provide needed services for the elderly with the non-profit foundation that she established. She continued her advocacy for the elderly when she joined the Santa Clara County Probate Court Investigators Office where she worked to protect the elderly from elder abuse.

In 1981, Margaret married the second love of her life, Al Clark, and the couple remained happily married until Al’s untimely passing in July 1995.

Music was a major passion in Margaret’s life. She had a beautiful soprano voice and sang in a trio in college; in her church choir; and the San Jose State Concert Choir.

Margaret’s faith and church, St. Andrews Episcopal Church, were also very important to her. She was an active member of her church and developed many life-long friendships from her association with St. Andrews.

Margaret’s other passions included her children, grandchildren and great granddaughter; her pets (her grandchildren referred to her as “Grandma Puppies”); and her needlepoint and knitting projects.

Margaret was a kind and gentle soul and those who knew and loved her will cherish her memory and miss her greatly.

Margaret leaves behind her younger brother, Fred Becker (Nancy); her three children, John Jeter, Julie (Brian) Angell and Joan (Steve) Smith; her six grandchildren, Craig (Sarah) Smith, Kyle Smith, Ryan Jeter, Tyler Angell, Kirsten Angell, and Michaela Angell; and her great granddaughter, Charlotte Smith.

A celebration of life service will be held at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Saratoga on June 11, 2022 at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, Margaret’s family would ask you to donate to the animal rescue organization or the cancer research organization of your choice.
