Underwood tour includes a concert at Chase Center
Country superstar Carrie Underwood wasn't kidding when she teased a big announcement during her guest appearance Sunday on “American Idol.”
The singer announced Monday she will kick off a 43-city U.S. tour in the fall that includes a Nov. 19 show at the Chase Center in San Francisco. Tickets for that concert will go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Friday via Ticketmaster. Prices have not yet been set. A variety of VIP packages including meet-and-greets, merchandise and more will be available; more information on that will be at carrieunderwoodofficial.com.
Organizers said $1 from each ticket sold will be donated to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, which helps find housing for needy military veterans and first responders.
The Denim & Rhinestones tour, named for the new album Underwood is set to release June 10, kicks off Oct. 15 in Greenville, South Carolina, and includes stops in Nashville, New York City, Los Angeles and Seattle, where the tour wraps up on March 15. It will be her first major U.S. tour in three years, although she is currently performing a Las Vegas residency that will resume next year after the tour concludes.
The Nov. 19 show in San Francisco will be the last Denim & Rhinestones stop in 2022, and will mark a two-month break in the tour.
Underwood has been one of country music's biggest success stories since winning the fourth season of “American Idol” in 2005. The album she released that year, “Some Hearts,” remains the best-selling solo album debut by a female singer in country music history. All told, she has sold 70 million albums worldwide and has won more major music awards — Grammys, American Music Awards, CMAs, etc. — than any country artist in history.
