The Bottom Line: What is G90? A G90 is a luxury sedan built and sold by Genesis.

And who is Genesis? Genesis is the luxury division of Hyundai Motor Group. Hyundai Motor Company is the parent company of Genesis, Hyundai, IONIQ, and Kia.

Genesis’s most luxurious model, the G90 sedan, has received a dramatic redesign for the 2023 model year that brings it into the modern era. Exterior styling is inspired by the G80 sedan and the GV80 SUV, with a few unique touches that mark the G90’s place at the top of the company’s luxury model hierarchy.

Enter the 2023 Genesis G90 3.5T E-Supercharger AWD Edition. No longer offered with a V8 variant and a choice of rear or all wheel drive (AWD), it is now powered by a turbocharged 3.5L liter V6 engine, sending power through an eightspeed automatic transmission to all four corners of the car, with full time AWD.

The base model of the 2023 Genesis G90 starts at $88,400, and the upper trim level edition with the 3.5L E-Supercharger AWD Edition starts at $98,700. A $1,095 destination fee applies to all G90 models. It is the most affordable alternative to the BMW, Lexus and Mercedes Benz luxury class cars for thousands of dollars less.

This week Genesis sent me a 2023 Genesis G90 3.5T E-Supercharger model to test drive and review. The base window sticker price for this edition is $98,700. The only option on the press car is the special paint for $575. The manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP), including the $1,095 destination charge, is a cool $100,370.

After adding in the state and local sales tax, plus the DMV and dealer fees, the total out-the-door and in-your-garage purchase price came to: $112,916. When you’re buying a car that costs more than $100,000, you’re in the super luxury class, and the G90 looks, rides, and drives as good, or better, than all of them.

The G90 E-Supercharger edition goes from over the top, to under the hood, to on the road. The drive train for the 2023 Genesis G90 AWD is powered by an electric Supercharged 3.5L Twin-Turbo V6 engine that produces 409 horsepower and 405 pound-foot of torque. It’s also a 48V mild hybrid that is bolted to an eight-speed automatic transmission, flowing into a full time AWD traction control system.

The driving dynamics are enhanced with a multi chambered air suspension system with rear wheel steering. Luxury cars feel like they are floating on air, and this driveline provides the comfort and stability to match its price. The Genesis luxury evolved slogan suggests that, although its winged logo resembles other luxury vehicles, it stands apart with its progressive approach and attention to the details that make it one of the best.

Luxury appointments start with the Nappa leather covered seats and instrument panel, a microfiber suede headliner, power front and rear seats with massage functions, front seats with power bolsters, heated and ventilated front and rear seats, a heated and power tilt and telescopic steering wheel, a three-zone climate control system, a mood curator with interior scents, and power rear and side window sun shades.

Multimedia and technology comes with a 12.3-inch center stack HD screen with a 12.3-inch HD digital instrument cluster, a Bang & Olufsen 3D premium audio system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Sirius XM radio, a heads up display, active noise control, a wireless phone charging pad, fingerprint authentication, and Genesis connected services.

News Flash: As I was writing this article I received a notice that Motor Trend magazine just crowned the Genesis G90 as the 2023 Motor Trend Car of the Yea award. This marks the third time Genesis has received top honors from Motor Trend, after the GV70 won 2022 SUV of the Year, and the G70 as 2019 Car of the Year.

The all-new for 2023 Genesis G90 now stands at the top of the class. With timeless design and advanced technology converging, the G90 projects unrestrained refinement down to each luxurious detail.

When you’re ready to buy a new luxury sedan, the 2023 Genesis G90 3.5T E-Supercharger edition should be on your ride and drive list, as it’s one of the best priced and optioned sedans for sale in the entire luxury class. Call, click or visit your local Genesis dealer for a test drive, and a Bottom Line price review on the 2023 Genesis G90.
