Help us select our high school Athletes of the Week

Welcome to the Bay Area News Group (Mercury News and East Bay Times) girls and boys Athlete of the Week poll.

For the entire academic year, we will provide a list of candidates who stood out over the previous week and allow you, the reader, to vote for the winner.

This week, we consider performanc­es from March 18-23.

Polls can be found on our websites — mercurynew­s. com/sports/high-school-sports/ or eastbaytim­es.com/ sports/high-school-sports/ — where voting closes at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Vote as many times as you'd like until then without using bots or any other artificial methods of voting. Winners are announced each Friday online and in the print edition of the Mercury News and East Bay Times sports sections.

Candidates for future Athlete of the Week polls can be nominated at highschool­s@bayareanew­sgroup.com. We accept nomination­s until 11a.m. each Monday. We also review stats submitted to MaxPreps by coaches/ team statistici­ans.

On to the nominees:

GIRLS

Olivia Abbott, Sacred Heart Prep lacrosse: The sophomore totaled eight goals, three assists and 21draw controls in wins against Redwood and Menlo-Atherton. The Gators are 7-0this season. Varsha Aravindhan, Irvington track and field: Aravindhan took first place in the 400meters with a time of 1:04.53at a Mission Valley Athletic League meet.

Elsie Ceridono, Campolindo lacrosse: Ceridono had seven points with two goals and five assists in a 14-2win at home against Northgate. Campolindo is currently 15th in MaxPreps' San Francisco Metro rankings.

Alanna Clincy, Willow Glen softball: The sophomore struck out eight in four innings and added a home run and three RBIs in a 13-1 win over Leigh. The Rams are on a four-game winning streak after starting 0-3.

Jasmine Cruz, Mt. Eden softball: Cruz went 3 for 3, scored four runs and had two RBIs in a 15-0 win over Tennyson. The sophomore is batting .548 on the year for Mt. Eden, which is 8-1.

Dom Neville, Hillsdale lacrosse: Neville had seven goals on seven shots in Hillsdale's 17-9 win against Burlingame. The Fighting Knights are in first place in the West Bay Athletic League Skyline Division.

Kyleigh Mace, Archbishop Mitty softball: The sophomore threw a complete-game shutout and struck out six in a 4-0win over Capuchino. The Monarchs (7-1) are on a six-game winning streak. Kate Munnerlyn, St. Francis softball: Munnerlyn went 3for 4and had two RBIs in a 7-1win over Hollister. She also got it done in the pitcher's circle, striking out five in seven innings.

Olivia Navone, San Ramon Valley lacrosse:

The senior had four points with two goals and two assists in a 17-0rout of Livermore. The Wolves are undefeated in seven games this season.

Bella Placencia, Hercules softball: Placencia went 3for 4with four RBIs and two doubles in

Hercules' 25-2 win over Campolindo. The sophomore is batting .704and has 18stolen bases so far this season.

Elliana Snyder, Leigh softball: Snyder batted 2 for 3with two RBIs and a double in a 4-1win over Westmont. Leigh is 5-4 this season.

BOYS Noah Hanohano, Newark Memorial baseball:

The junior pitched a one-hitter with 12strikeou­ts and doubled and drove in two to lead Newark Memorial to an 11-0rout of Mission San Jose in a Mission Valley Athletic League game. Also had two doubles and three RBIs in a 9-3win over MSJ earlier in the week.

Luka Knezevic, Branham baseball: The sophomore struck out eight while scattering nine hits in a complete-game effort, leading the Bruins to a 2-1victory over Live Oak to complete a two-game series sweep in Blossom Valley Athletic League Mt. Hamilton Division play. Branham improved to 9-2 overall and 3-1 in the league.

Ben Ledwith, Live Oak golf and lacrosse: The scholar athlete (4.7 GPA) helped Live Oak's golf team to two victories over Leigh and scored five goals and had three assists in an 18-3lacrosse win over Leland. He also had three assists in a 15-2 lacrosse victory over Pioneer.

Grant Morgenfeld, Palo Alto track and field:

The senior ran a Central Coast Section-leading time of 8:50.95to finish first in the 3,200at the Azusa Meet of Champions on Saturday.

Tony Pucci, Northgate lacrosse: In victories over Amador Valley, 8-3, and Petaluma, 15-2, he won 27of 33faceoffs, scored twice and had a team-best 16groundba­lls. Northgate improved to 8-1 on the season.

Cameron Sears, Aragon volleyball:

In a 3-2 victory over James Logan, the senior led the Dons with 31 kills. He followed that up with 23 kills in a 3-2victory over Burlingame and 25kills in a 3-2 win over Menlo-Atherton. The marathon wins improved Aragon's record to 15-1 on the season. Tanner Tarpley, Foothill baseball: The junior homered, drove in two runs and scored four runs to help the Falcons roll past Dougherty Valley 20-4in an East Bay Athletic League game. Also had a hit and an RBI in a 2-0 nonleague win over Freedom.

Keith Truong, Silver Creek baseball: In his team's 4-3victory over Del Mar, the senior went 2 for 3with a double and scored two runs. Also had three hits, including a double, drove in two runs and scored twice in a 14-1rout of Yerba Buena. Finished the week with seven hits in 10 at-bats.

Kenneth Tucker, Bellarmine track and field:

The senior finished first in the triple jump with a leap of 47 feet, 2 inches at the Lynbrook Invitation­al. The mark set a personal record for Tucker and is the CCS's top jump of the season.

Parker Warner, Granada baseball: The Stanford commit pitched a three-hitter with nine strikeouts to lead undefeated Granada to a 2-0victory over California in EBAL play. The senior began this week with a 1.68ERA over 25innings.
