Harassment leads crime this week

POTTSTOWN >> Harassment has been the leading crime in Pottstown this past week.

Six incidents involving harassment have been reported, according to crimemappi­ng.com, a police-run website used to inform residents about crime in their area. The six incidents were reported on Farmington Avenue, North Hanover Street, the 500 block of King Street, the 200 block of North Charlotte Street, and the 100 block of East High Street.

Five drug or alcohol related offenses were also reported within the past week. The incidents involved one case of public drunkennes­s on the 200 block of East High Street and four cases of possession on East High Street and the 300 block of Walnut Street.

There also five reported thefts since Feb. 1. Four of the five incidents involved retail thefts, all on the 200 block of Shoemaker Road. The fifth incident was reported from buildings on the 100 block of Walnut Street.

In addition, there have been five reported assaults in the past week. Two involved the use of hands, feet and fists on the 200 block of North York Street and the 400 block of Beech Street. One incident involved the use of a firearm on Grant Street and the remaining two were non-aggravated assaults on the 300 block of West King Street and the 500 block of King Street.

Three DUIs also occurred on College Drive, King Street and East High Street in addition to two burglaries involving forced entry on the 500 block of West High Street and the 400 block of Chestnut Street.

There was also one reported incident each involving vehicle break-ins, vandalism, weapons and motor vehicle thefts. The vehicle break-in was reported on the 900 block of Washington while a vehicle theft was reported on the 300 block of Manatawny Street. Possession of a firearm was reported on the 300 block of North Evans Street and criminalmi­schief to buildings was reported on the 400 block of North Franklin Street.
